Why not simply open windows?
Open windows pose a security risk and enable dust, pollen and noise to invade the home. Also it depends on too many variables, the wind, location of the house and the difference in the temperature between inside and outside (stack effect), all of which can create uncomfortable draughts.
And it promotes an uncontrollable waste of energy, as heat is simply allowed to escape to atmosphere.
How does inVENTer works?
One inVENTer® unit is mounted in the outer wall of every room requiring ventilation.
InVENTer fans work pairwise. They start contrary to each other, one in supply, the other in exhaust mode.
In Exhaust mode: warm, used air flows through the heat storage unit and warms it up.
In Supply mode: fresh outside air flows through the warmed heat storage unit and streams inside for a pleasant temperature.
After every 70 sec. fans change directions.
How much heat is recovered?
Between 70% to 91% of the heat is recycled. It depends on the mode of the ventilator (in boost mode it is less than in slow mode), the difference between the temperature of the incoming and outgoing air, as well as the amount of moisture in the air.
For example, if the outside air temperature is 0ºC and the internal air temperature is 20ºC, you can expect the fresh air being introduced via the system to be approximately 17-18ºC.
For ventilation systems without heat recovery, the incoming air would be 0ºC.
Is it draughty?
No, because of the high degree of efficiency (fresh air has got nearly room temperature) and the big outlets.
Nevertheless suits and beds should not be directly arranged below the ventilator.
Is it noisy?
No, the system operates at a whisper quiet level (>19 dB(A)).
Does inVENTer comply with Building Regulations?
Yes - inVENTer-fans comply to German and European Building Regulations. Our products have the German Building Inspection approval.
What about houses with mould and moisture problems?
If insufficient ventilation is the cause of the problems, installation of inVENTer-ventilation will improve the situation.
The controller ZR31 has an optional humidity sensor. If humidity is too high, controller will change the mode until it is OK again.
How does it help asthma sufferers?
Research carried out by a number of worldwide leading authorities have established a clear link between the house dust mite allergen and the development of asthma - 80% of sufferers are allergic to it.
InVENTer - heat recovery ventilation reduces the relative humidity to a level at which the house dust mite cannot survive, thereby removing a major trigger of asthma attacks.
Furthermore a pollen filter can be fitted easily instead the dust filter.
How much does it cost to run?
By using long-life, low energy DC motors, one inVENTer®- unit uses about 2 watts of electricity per hour. This is only 3% of a 60 W light bulb energy consumption. At a price of 0,15€ per kW there are about 3 € energy costs per unit and year.
How long does inVENTer already exist?
The serial production of inVENTer®-ventilation started in 1998.
With over 10 years experience we have over 50,000 installations in all types of dwellings.
Wall thickness
inVENTer® offers products for nearly every wall thickness > 15cm.
How much inVENTer-units do you need per home?
One inVENTer 14 is ideal for rooms up to 18 m². As inVENTer® 14 - fans work pairwise, put 2 of them in 2 rooms (cross-ventilating concept).
For ventilation of only one single room use inVENTer twin.
In which buildings can inVENTer be installed?
inVENTer-ventilation with heat recovery can be installed in nearly all kind of living and sleeping rooms, not only in residential housing but also in hotels, schools, kindergardens, office-rooms and industry.
Can it be fitted into an existing house?
Yes, of course. There are no ducts to mount. The inVENTer® unit is completly mounted in the outwall. inVENTer 14R or inVENTer 25 with round casing is constructed to fit in a core hole, made by a special drill.
What about condensation?
A little condensation inside the heat storage unit is caused by the high rate of heat recovery. The special construction of the exterior weather hood keeps the facade dry.
Because of the ceramic material (heat storage), even at freezing temperatures the incoming air is moistened slightly. So an optimal living climate is also ensured in the winter.
What happens in the summer?
In summer inVENTer ventilatio can be used as "passive cooling", i.e. the heat stays outside.
The inVENTer-system will discourage the build up of heat inside the building by changing the air continuously, creating a fresher, cooler internal environment (compared to outside temperature). At night when the outside temperature is lower you will benefit from a supply of controlled cool fresh air being introduced without the need to open windows, with the resultant problems of noise, compromised security, and the ingress of pollutants.
What about cooking odours?
While cooking you should use the exhaust hood.
How to ventilate the bathroom?
Practical experience with inVENTer-ventilation has shown, the bathroom dries really fast.
What about fire places?
Pay attention if there are local regulations for ventilation in rooms with fireplaces. Prefer 2
inVENter 14 units or 1 inVENTer twin in rooms with a fireplace, to make sure there will be no
negative pressure. Use only stoves with a pipe for supply air.
Is inVENTer germfree?
Germs arise in constantly humid climat. As the inVENTer heat storage is constantly dried even at high humidity, germs can´t occure.
Furthermore service and maintanance is easily done. You can put the heat storage and the filter in the dish washing machine.
How to maintain inVENTer?
inVENTer® - dust filter are very durable and can be cleaned several times.
We recommend to clean the dust filter as necessary, normally every month. Wash in warm soapy
water. Replace the filter when necessary.
The pollen filter cannot be cleaned and must be changed as necessary.
The heat storage should be checked every three month. It can be cleaned in
the dishwasher or with the vaccuum cleaner.
Check the fans once a year. Even if the required maintenance, such as cleaning/changing of filters
is carried out, dust and grease may slowly build up inside the fans. This will reduce efficiency. The
fans can be cleaned with compressed air and a soft, damp cloth.
What about thermal bridges?
Prevent thermal bridges in strong walls, pushing the heat storage to the outer end of the casing.
How much heating energy can be saved by inVENTer?
The possible saving of annual heating energy is 17.2 kWh/m²a.
Who designs the ventilation system?
Our sales representatives support you or your architect, to design the inVENTer-ventialtion system.
Who fits the system?
After preparing the wall vent, you can either do it yourself in just one hour per unit or you arrange the electrician or the plumber to install the inVENTer units.
