ErP-label with concrete information for energy efficiency- the basics
Informative and easy to understand- The first segment of the label will contain the name of the manufacturer, as well as the respective product. Nevertheless, every label is product-specific and does not refer to a whole product series. The customer is able to judge the device's efficiency in comparison to conventional window ventilation, based on the information given on the ErP-label. The classes are staggered based on the information requirements on a scale from A+ to G. Calculated after the regulation specifications with the electric energy consumption, minus the primary energy that is saved. The result of this calculation is the SEC-Factor, the figure to determine the class. The basis for the comparison: Class G is to be accounted for window ventilation. On a bold bar graph the different energy- classes from A+ to G are displayed on the label and firstly give a general idea of how much energy can be saved. Consequently A+ indicates the saving of at least 42kWh/m²/a. But even class F, with 0.1 to 10 kWh/m²/a, has a potential for saving energy. The classification can be seen on the first graphic below.
Data about noise generation and environmental capacity
While up to no now the manufacturers used to indicate the sound pressure level as quantity for the noise level of ventilation devices, the new label indicates the sound power level. That is impossible to measure but is to be calculated while remaining unrelated to the distance between device and ear. It is approximately 6-10 dB(A) higher than sound pressure level. The sound pressure level therefore is much more telling for the user in various distances. This way it is possible to simulate the effective noise generation in a room.
The ErP-label also provides information about the maximum air volume flow, whereas these figures are not very convincing for decentralised ventilation systems, since the devices are not continuously running on full power. Important is the dimensioning for the utilisation unit; e.g. the amount of decentralised devices is significant for the operational phase and thus for the exposure to noise due to the ventilation devices. The sounds are usually in the operational phase and much quieter than the label indicates.
Compiling facts: what information needs to be given?
Content, layout, form and size of the label are strictly fixed. The most important information for the customer can be found on the second graphic below.
With the realisation directive 1253/2014 and the delegated directive 1254/2014, the requirements for ventilation devices and their labelling are specified. Our inVENTer products do not subject to the minimum requirements of the 1253/2014, except the information requirements. All of our ventilation devices for living spaces with heat recovery have to be labelled according to 1254/2014.
Conclusion: A consumer-friendly step in the right direction
The ErP-label provides an orientation point and decision guidance for users and end-consumers. Principally this is an opportunity to compare ventilation devices for their efficiency although it is to keep in mind not to compare the proverbial apples and oranges, but to compare devices of a similar type. Beware that the label does not provide information about the definite operating costs, since these are specific type of device. The operating costs for decentralised ventilation systems range between 4 to 6 euro energy costs per year and device. The devices nevertheless stand in the low consumption scope.
